Taking the ACT is required for acceptance in most colleges and universities, including community colleges. Students should plan on taking the ACT at least twice before January of their senior year of high school. It is recommended that students wait until the completion of Algebra II to take the ACT. We recommend that students take the ACT at least once their junior year.
Students can log in to their account, or create a new ACT account here.
After creating an ACT account, students should complete the WPHS ACT survey here.
The cost of the regular ACT is $50.50. The cost is $67.00 for the ACT Plus Writing. The ACT Plus Writing is not required for acceptance in many colleges and universities. Students should check with the colleges and universities to which they are applying to see if the ACT Plus Writing is required for acceptance. Each test includes reports for you, your high school, and up to four colleges(if codes are provided when you register). If you cannot afford the test fee, ask your counselor about requesting a fee waiver.
Students who register for an ACT test date after the registration deadline must pay an extra $29.50. This late fee is not covered by the fee waiver.
Students who are eligible for free or reduced lunch at West Point High School are also eligible to use 2 fee waivers during their junior and senior years. Each fee waiver covers the cost of the regular ACT ($50.50). The fee waiver will not cover the late fee for late registration.
Uploading a Photo
The College Board now requires that students upload a photo of themselves when they register to take the ACT. There are free apps for Android and Apple smartphones that will allow you to upload a picture of yourself to your ACT account. Information on uploading photos is available @ http://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/registration/photo-submission-requirements.html
